I take my sleep very seriously. It is critical for overall health, affecting you immune system, hormone regulation, learning and memory to name a few. Therefore, I take sleep hygiene very seriously as well. Thus my pet peeve arises.
Neighbor noise not withstanding. The most annoying impact of my apartment pertaining to sleep is this very bright, seemingly unneeded light on an adjacent structure. Its an external light on an open, internally lit, parking structure. And it shines right in my bedroom window with my landlord special vertical blinds a hopeless adversary. My circuit enabled solution stands now: a night activated light cover.
The final product is battery operated with a photo-resistor measuring light and triggering a servo motor to open and close the light cover appropriately. The cover and associated items are all located on or near the light itself to be functional at whatever angle the light is set to. (Although, I will concede if someone is touching the light to adjust the angle at this point, they'd most likely remove my modifications.)
Critique of the product are well founded. Firstly, the non-existence of weatherproofing, prohibits this solution from being implemented for a large potion on the year. Secondly, the cover doesn't sit flush with the light.
